Airdance - Philippine Contemporary Dance Company

Alfred Jan A. Mercado started his formal training in dance during High School as a dance major in Iloilo National High School, Special Program for the Arts. He later became the Dance Master of the Dance Society. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He continued his dance training at Sol Fernandez’ School of Dance and became the Junior Teacher of the school. He is presently a member of Airdance Company Philippines and a contemporary dance teacher in Halili - Cruz School of Classical Ballet. His latest achievements include winning the 1st prize and audience choice award for his piece "Due Date" in the New Choreographers Competition of the Wi_fi body 5 Contemporary Dance Festival 2010 held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. His piece entitled "Sindikato" performed by Sol Fernandez School of dance, won First prize at the ABAP (Association of Ballet Academies of the Philippines) Dance Cup 2010 held at the Meralco Theater. He is one of the Finalists in Yokohama Dance Collection EX 2011 Competition I (Dance Composition Division) held at Red Brick Warehouse, Yokohama, Japan. Recently, some of his modern dance pieces were used as entries represented by Halili - Cruz School of Classical Ballet at the 13th Asia Pacific Dance Competition held at the Auditorium of the Office of Agricultural Museum and Culture, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand last 23-24 July 2011. It garnered awards such as Honorable Mention, 3rd Place and First Prize.
